Given a location in Zurich, Switzerland along the tracks for the main train station, this project developed a programmatic argument for a hostel. Paired with apartments in a central location, the two buildings house complimentary typologies. The paths of local denizens and visitors to Zurich are woven together through ground floor businesses and outdoor spaces, yet they remain distinctly private on upper floors.

 

 

The upper floors of the hostel building are concrete structure clad in a wooden rain screen made of local materials. Windows behind the wooden slats allow protected views out while providing privacy.
